Randle went 14 for 18 from the field overall.
Emily Kaplan, national NHL reporter: With full disrespect to the other 30 teams, my answer is the Pittsburgh Penguins. This goes beyond championships, though both teams have won plenty of those recently. (This would be a far better comparison if the rival Philadelphia Flyers had won as much as the University of North Carolina has recently. Oh well.) The Penguins and Blue Devils also drive — according to everybody else — a nauseating percentage of national media coverage.
He also said that he didn’t feel the need to be involved at all in the draft process.
I trust those people, Porzingis said of Knicks management. That is their job. I feel they’re going to do the best they can. I’m going to take care of this. They’re going to take care of that. Once I’m back and healthy, then I will go from there.
Porzingis had been at odds with the organization last summer but has since said he wants to be a Knick for the rest of his career. The Knicks had been comfortable with the idea of offering Porzingis the rookie extension this summer prior to his injury.
Besides Fleury’s on-ice resume, which includes three Stanley Cups, Gallant knew he was getting a strong leader at the beginning of the season.
I heard his personality was unbelievable, Gallant said. He’s a better person than goaltender, and that says a lot.
Fleury’s work on the ice against the Flyers was pretty special, too.
This LeBron James-to-Philly stuff is getting either silly — or serious.
Just days after three billboards, paid for by a Pennsylvania company, popped up in Ohio urging James to sign with the 76ers this summer as a free agent, there were reports that the three-time NBA champion was spotted in the Philadelphia area over the All-Star break, touring area high schools.
“I’ve told this to a few other people, and I have no problem saying this,” Abdelnaby said on Philly Sports Talk. “My brother lives in the Philadelphia area and he told me that LeBron, last week through a superintendent, was in the area checking out some private schools during the All-Star break.”
The NBA prohibits teams from recruiting potential players. But there’s nothing to impede fans from wooing James, and that will likely intensify as the offseason nears.
With a young roster featuring center Joel Embiid and do-it-all forward Ben Simmons, Philadelphia could be an attractive landing spot for James, who famously left Cleveland in 2010 and signed with the Miami Heat before returning to the Cavaliers in 2014.
James already has a bond with Simmons, who is represented by Rich Paul, one of James’ closest friends and business partners.

So honestly, I’m at a loss for words, I don’t know what we’re going to do. I know we’re trying to sign one of them and see what we can do, but right now, none of that’s working, so we just have to get more players. We have to get one of those guys or someone in quickly. We don’t have enough guards right now to play. So we need one.”

The rookie offensive tackle’s abdominal strain, suffered Sunday in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers, should not keep him out of the playoffs, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported per a source informed of Robinson’s situation. The injury is described as more of a nuisance than anything, and the tackle is prepared to play through it, Rapoport added.
Knowing it needed better play from its left tackle, Jacksonville bid adieu to Kelvin Beachum and Luke Joeckel in free agency, spent its 34th overall pick on Robinson and inserted him into the starting lineup in Week 1. The rookie has thrived in the role, allowing just two sacks all season as part of a line that has surrendered just 22 sacks all season (fifth-best in the NFL).

Williamson, who hails from Spartanburg, South Carolina, also had the in-state Gamecocks and Clemson among his top choices.
Duke stood out because the brotherhood represents a family, Williamson said. Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) is just the most legendary coach that ever coached college basketball. I feel like going to Duke University, I can learn a lot from him.
I love my state to death, he said.

This is crazy.’ I tell [people] my name, and they go, ‘Oh my god, it’s really you.’ That part’s fun. People knowing who I am.

The NFL is appealing the ruling by a federal judge in Texas that granted a preliminary injunction to keep Elliott’s suspension on hold as the case proceeds. If the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit grants the league’s request for an emergency stay of the injunction, perhaps as soon as next week, the injunction would be lifted and Elliott would have to serve his suspension while the underlying case plays out. Under that scenario, Elliott could begin serving his suspension as soon as the Cowboys’ third game of the season.
If the appeals court denies the league’s request for an emergency stay but grants a highly expedited briefing schedule for the NFL’s appeal of the injunction, it might be possible for Elliott’s suspension to take effect later this season if the league prevails on that appeal. Should that happen following Week 12, the suspension would carry into the postseason, an NFL source confirmed.
We know the position we’re in, Rhode Island coach Dan Hurley said. We know what our goals are. We’re just really locked in on that next game.
I ask for our guys to fight and defend for 40 minutes, Fordham coach Jeff Neubauer said. We certainly need to find a way to get over the hump.
Rhode Island’s key to success is its depth led by senior guard Jared Terrell, who had a season-high 24 points in the win over Dayton. Senior backcourt mate E.C. Mathews, who had 17 points and seven rebounds, moved into the top 10 of Rhode Island’s career scoring list with 1,686 points.
Another senior guard, Jarvis Garrett, had seven points, five assists and three rebounds in 20 minutes. Hurley calls Garrett the key to the team because of his acceptance of coming off the bench.
It wasn’t a new critique. When Hurts played for Averion at Channelview High School in Houston, a rival coach once told his father, Your son is the real deal, but he’s got to show other kids emotion so they play harder.
Nothing outlandish. Just a quiet show of confidence. He stared straight ahead, wiped himself down and moved along.
Averion laughed and thought of a different conversation he had with Saban about getting Hurts to show his emotions. Ultimately, he had to convince Saban to meet them halfway. You’re going to have to let him be him, Averion said.
Another example: James made a habit of referring to Irving as the kid. You can see Irving’s visible frustration here when a pool reporter asks what kind of father figure James has been to him.
According to MacMullan, some of his Cavaliers teammates said Irving took being referred to as the kid as a subtle lack of respect, though it’s unclear whether that is the reason he requested a trade.
When the Cavaliers lost to the Warriors in last year’s NBA Finals, Irving was the one who pushed for an exit interview first, according to MacMullan. But Griffin’s contract expired June 19, leaving the Cavaliers GM-less for 36 days — including two weeks of wining and dining Chauncey Billups — before naming Koby Altman the new GM.
For over a month, Irving had no one to talk to.
James and Irving didn’t see eye-to-eye on some things, but it doesn’t seem all the parties involved had a chance to sit down and discuss their grievances with one another. Had that happened, the ending to this story could have been a bit different.
But that game … well, at least the Bruins got a participation ribbon. The Canadiens, with backup goalie and Massachusetts native Mike Condon in net, built a 3-0 lead by the 17:20 mark of the second period, and that was that. At an unremarkable venue with unremarkable weather, and with a Canadian market in an unremarkable game, this was the lowest-rated Winter Classic to date in the U.S.
He seems unperturbed by the latest brouhaha. He said (pretty close to) the right things when asked about it on Sunday. As noted, the Lakers are refusing to comment. This is the perfect tone to take. If the Lakers commented on this or any other LaVar broadside, they’d have to comment on all of them. Better to ignore the nonsense from the start.
Walton is smart and chill. He too said all the right things before L.A.’s Sunday game against the Hawks, a win that snapped a nine-game losing streak. He focused his concern not on LaVar’s black hole ego, but on the impact on Lonzo. Walton’s concern wasn’t with how this kerfuffle affects him or his status, but how it affects his star rookie.
