The Detroit Tigers don’t have one of the best defensive outfields in baseball, and it looks like that rubs off on their fans. Just watch this feeble attempt at a routine foul ball by this Tigers fan during last night’s Rays-Tigers matchup.
The ball hits the dude in the hands! It was a 10-hopper, too, so it’s not like the ball was smoked off the bat. It was a high hop, sure, and he had to re-adjust, but it hits him right in the palms. Maybe the nerves of being on cable TV played a factor here. I blame defensive shifts.
The best part of the .GIF, though, is the way the guy triumphantly presents the ball to the baseball gods after eating a face-full of ground.
I can’t stop watching this on loop. It’s incredible. This is why .GIFs were invented.
This Tiger fan booted the ball like the Tigers booted the W, with the Rays walking off to an 8-7 victory in Tampa.
The thrill of defeat, and the agony of victory. Or something.
They are this year’s Giants, filling all their key defensive holes in one big spending spree. As good as Olivier Vernon, Damon Harrison and Janoris Jenkins were in transforming a defense that put a Cheap Braves Jerseys team in the playoffs last season, Bouye, Campbell and Church can be collectively better for Jacksonville’s needs.
